Kirby was born on December 14th, 1872.  Kirby's father was Charles Valley Stiles and his mother is Ellen Neff.  His paternal grandparents were David Stiles Jr. and Martha Daugherty.  He had a brother and three sisters, named Ben, Minnie, Mattie and Sudie.  He was the oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 63 on July 9th, 1936.
