Joseph was born on March 9th, 1923.  Joseph's father was Ben Pirtle Stiles and his mother was Eleanor Hurst.  His paternal grandfather was Charles Valley Stiles and his paternal grandmother is Ellen Neff.  He had three brothers and three sisters, named Burch, Charles, Ben, Ruth, Lena and Ida.  He was the youngest of the seven children.  He died at 1 months old on April 19th, 1923.
