Ida was born on May 15th, 1899.  Ida's father was Thomas Lewis Stiles and her mother is Addah Godby.  Her paternal grandparents were David Stiles Jr. and Martha Daugherty.  She had two brothers and two sisters, named William, Thomas, Stella and Lida.  She is the fourth oldest of the five children.
