David Stiles Jr.

David was born on February 14th, 1807. He died at the age of 68 on May 3rd, 1875.

General Notes
- David, Jr. was the youngest surviving child of David Stiles. He was born in Morristown, New Jersey and traveled with his family to settle in Stiles, Kentucky when he was only 2 years old. He settled in Howe Valley, Hardin County, KY. when he became an adult. He was married twice. Lois Sparks, in her genealogy says the following:
  
  "A letter written by Kathleen Stiles Wallace, great-granddaughter of David Stiles, Jr., has fallen into this writer's hands. I do not know to whom this letter was written since it begins, "Dear Folks". In part of this letter she wrote, "My father told me many years ago that his grandfather (David, Jr.) sheltered blacks from lynching, etc., in a cave on his farm. He answered a knock on his door in the night and was shot for harbouring blacks. I have neer heard this story elsewhere, but I have no reason to doubt its authenticity. According to the Stiles' book, he died in 1875 at the age of 68, but came from a long line of longevity. Emotions ran high at the time and Blacks were poorly treated following their emancipation."
