Sarah, known as Sally, was born on February 19th, 1863.  Sally's father was Randolph  Selmon Shipley and her mother was Somira Ellen Stiles.  Her maternal grandparents were David Stiles Jr. and Melory Goodman.  She had seven brothers and five sisters, named David, James, William, Joe, Robert, Charles, John, Bettie, Minerva, Cora, Maggie and Laura.  She is the seventh oldest of the thirteen children.
