Ruth was born on June 27th, 1918.  Ruth's father was Gerald Knox Shipley and her mother is Ruth Sheets.  Her paternal grandfather was James Lewis Shipley and her paternal grandmother is Alice Emma Peverly.  She has a brother and a sister, named Marshall and Margaret.  She is the second oldest of the three children.
