Roy was born on May 14th, 1890.  Roy's father was Joe Lucien Shipley and his mother is Hammie McKay.  His paternal grandparents were Randolph  Selmon Shipley and Somira Ellen Stiles.  He had three brothers and two sisters, named Lucien, William, Winfield, Gladys and Grace.  He was the third oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 30 in November 1920.
