Paul was born on October 13th, 1908.  Paul's father was Charles Shipley and his mother is Minnie Taber.  His paternal grandparents were Randolph  Selmon Shipley and Somira Ellen Stiles.  He had four brothers named John, Justus, Charles and James.  He is the third oldest of the five children.
