Mary was born on June 29th, 1924.  Mary's father was Matthew Shipley and her mother is Ethel Downard.  Her paternal grandfather was James Lewis Shipley and her paternal grandmother is Alice Emma Peverly.  She had two brothers named James and Robert.  She is the youngest of the three children.
