David was born in September 1863.  David's father was Columbus Klinglesmith and his mother was Malora (Annie) Ann Stiles.  His maternal grandparents were David Stiles Jr. and Martha Daugherty.  He had seven brothers and four sisters, named Noah, Robert, Thomas, Abraham, Ambrose, John, George, Dixie, Katie, Mary and Minnie.  He was the third oldest of the twelve children.  He died at the age of 1 in November 1864.
