Charles was born on August 9th, 1878.  Charles' father is William H. Bunger and his mother was Bettie Ann Shipley.  His maternal grandparents were Randolph  Selmon Shipley and Somira Ellen Stiles.  He had two brothers and five sisters, named Owen, Randolph, Mary, Mabel, Nettie, Ethel and Maggie.  He is the oldest of the eight children.
