Mattie was born on May 12th, 1873.  Mattie's father is Cadwallader (C.W.) Willett Rush and her mother was Rhoda Belle Bland.  Her maternal grandparents were Elijah Bland and Corrilla Willett.  She had four brothers and four sisters, named James, Willett, Elijah, Arthur, Minnie, Annie, Louise and Winniefred.  She was the third oldest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 22 on April 1st, 1896.
