Mary was born on August 6th, 1889.  Mary's father was James Clifford Cowherd and her mother was Hettie Virginia Willett.  Her maternal grandparents were Darius Willett and Virginia (Jennie) Kirtley.  She had three brothers and two sisters, named Richard, William, James, Ermine and Annie.  She was the third oldest of the six children.  She died at the age of 90 on March 31st, 1980 in Taylor County, KY.
