Edith was born on December 30th, 1925.  Edith's father is Richard Cowherd and her mother is Beatrice Taylor.  Her paternal grandparents were James Clifford Cowherd and Hettie Virginia Willett.  She has two brothers and three sisters, named John, William, Hettie, Anna and Mary.  She is the fourth oldest of the six children.
