William  was born on February 3rd, 1847.  William 's father was Elijah Bland and his mother was Corrilla Willett.  His maternal grandparents were Griffith Willett and Rhoda Stiles.  He had three brothers and three sisters, named Stiles, George, Joseph, Rhoda, Annie and Mattie.  He was the second oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 2 in 1849.
