George was born on May 24th, 1849.  George's father was Elijah Bland and his mother was Corrilla Willett.  His maternal grandparents were Griffith Willett and Rhoda Stiles.  He had three brothers and three sisters, named Stiles, William , Joseph, Rhoda, Annie and Mattie.  He was the third oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 21 on May 11th, 1871.
