Stiles was born on July 28th, 1868.  Stiles' father is Dr. Henry Buckler Peterson and his mother was Mary Ellen Beall.  His maternal grandfather is Thomas J. Beall and his maternal grandmother was Sarah Jane Stiles.  He had a brother and a sister, named Wesley and Annie.  He was the oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 69 on June 22nd, 1938.
