Caroline was born in 1858.  Caroline's father is John W. Pence and her mother was Rebecca Eltengy Stiles.  Her maternal grandfather was Lewis Stiles.  She had two brothers and two sisters, named William, Lafayette, Sarah and Mary.  She was the second oldest of the five children.  She died at the age of 80 on February 1st, 1938.
