Catherine was born on February 16th, 1920.  Catherine's father was Chalen Harlan Stiles and her mother is Mary Amy Spalding.  Her paternal grandparents were John Calvin Stiles and Elizabeth Carter.  She had three brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, Hugh, Patrick, Elizabeth, Jessie, Helena and Mary.  She is the seventh oldest of the eight children.
