Hilda was born on June 8th, 1925.  Hilda's father is E. V. Gardner and her mother is Fannie Gertrude Miller.  Her maternal grandfather was David Franklin Miller and her maternal grandmother is Gertrude Durham.  She had six brothers and two sisters, named Edward, Mary, Fred, Hugh, James, David, Maude and Dorothy.  She is the seventh oldest of the nine children.
