Edward was born on January 1st, 1917.  Edward's father is E. V. Gardner and his mother is Fannie Gertrude Miller.  His maternal grandfather was David Franklin Miller and his maternal grandmother is Gertrude Durham.  He had five brothers and three sisters, named Mary, Fred, Hugh, James, David, Maude, Dorothy and Hilda.  He was the oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 23 on August 11th, 1940.
