Robert was born in 1918.  Robert's father is Robert Knox Tarkington and his mother is Edith Lovett.  His paternal grandfather was Joseph  Maxwell Tarkington and his paternal grandmother is Susan Caldwell.  He had two sisters named Elizabeth and Susan.  He was the youngest of the three children.  He died at the age of 73 in 1991.
