Julian was born in 1889.  Julian's father was Joseph  Maxwell Tarkington and his mother is Rue Irvine.  His paternal grandfather is William Lawson Tarkington and his paternal grandmother was Julia Etta Maxwell.  He had three brothers and four sisters, named Irvine, James, Lee, Mariah, Marguerite, Laura and Amelia.  He had five half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Joseph , James, William, Robert, Carl, Julietta, Jennie and Annie.  He died at the age of 67 in 1956.
