Nancy was born in 1912.  Nancy's father was Lapsley C. Ewing and her mother was Annie Tarkington.  Her maternal grandfather was Joseph  Maxwell Tarkington and her maternal grandmother is Susan Caldwell.  She had three brothers and three sisters, named Warren, Hubert, Lapsley, Julietta, Katherine and Elizabeth.  She is the youngest of the seven children.
