John was born in 1915.  John's father was John Bergan Dinwiddie and his mother was Jennie Tarkington.  His maternal grandfather was Joseph  Maxwell Tarkington and his maternal grandmother is Susan Caldwell.  He had two brothers and three sisters, named Calvin, Claude, Susan, Lucille  and Virginia.  He was the youngest of the six children.  He died at the age of 71 in 1986 in Fernley, Nev..
