Claude was born in 1896.  Claude's father was John Bergan Dinwiddie and his mother was Jennie Tarkington.  His maternal grandfather was Joseph  Maxwell Tarkington and his maternal grandmother is Susan Caldwell.  He had two brothers and three sisters, named Calvin, John, Susan, Lucille  and Virginia.  He was the fourth oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 101 in 1997 in Lethbridge, Ga..
