Marvin was born on January 28th, 1923.  Marvin's father is Enoch Marvin Brown and his mother is Mattie Scott.  His paternal grandfather is John Brown and his paternal grandmother was Mary Eliza Miller.  He had four brothers and four sisters, named John, James, Joseph, Harold, Mabel, Lela, Mary and Robert.  He is the fourth oldest of the nine children.
