Alton was born on October 9th, 1904.  Alton's father was Proctor Brown and his mother was Birdie Beard.  His paternal grandfather is John Brown and his paternal grandmother was Mary Eliza Miller.  He had a brother and two sisters, named John, Emma and Pauline.  He was the second oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 84 on July 27th, 1989.
