Marion Stiles

Marion was born on June 3rd, 1911. Marion's father is Thomas Edward Stiles and his mother is Mattie Coffey. His paternal grandfather was Charles Cleland Stiles and his paternal grandmother is Jerusha Ann Slayden. He had a brother and a sister, named Chauncey and Margaret. He was the second oldest of the three children. He died in an accident or as a result of an injury, died by crashing his own plane into the mountain, at the age of 54 on February 22nd, 1966 in Guadelupe Mountains National Park. The funeral took place on March 29th, 1966 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. His burial was in Stiles Plot, Wildwood Cemetery, Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

Death Notes
- Marion and his new wife, Helen Eske died by crashing his plane into a mountain in Gradelupe Mountains National Park. Records are in the park archives, available by request at the Visitor's Center.
  
  His body was not found until March 24, 1966, and he was buried in Sheboygan, Wisconsin Next to the mother of his children and his parents,
  Thomas and Mattied (Coffey) Stiles.

General Notes
- res. Detroit, MI. This gentleman was very important to all of us who lived in Stiles, KY and attended all of the Reunions. He was a pilot and flew in to a couple of our Reunions. He would land his plane in the field directly across the road from the church. It was great fun to watch the plane land and greet our cousins as they climbed out of the plane!
