Chauncey was born in April 1913.  Chauncey's father is Thomas Edward Stiles and his mother is Mattie Coffey.  His paternal grandfather was Charles Cleland Stiles and his paternal grandmother is Jerusha Ann Slayden.  He had a brother and a sister, named Marion and Margaret.  He was the youngest of the three children.  He died at the age of 2 in October 1915.
