Bessie was born on February 15th, 1922.  Bessie's father was Charles Louis Thomas and her mother was Beulah  Rodgers.  Her paternal grandfather is Tom R. Thomas and her paternal grandmother was Margaret Ann Stiles.  She had three brothers and three sisters, named Charles, Louis, John, Margaret, Helen and Frances.  She is the fifth oldest of the seven children.
