Alta was born on December 20th, 1881.  Alta's father is Tom R. Thomas and her mother was Margaret Ann Stiles.  Her maternal grandfather was Rev. Jacob w. Stiles and her maternal grandmother is Mary Eliza Beeler.  She had two brothers and four sisters, named Charles, John (Jack), Sarah, Mary, Valeria and Fannye.  She was the oldest of the seven children.  She died at the age of 73 on September 16th, 1955.
