William was born on November 27th, 1909.  William's father was Rev. Jacob w. Stiles and his mother is Lucinda Davis.  His paternal grandfather was Charles Stiles.  He had four brothers and three sisters, named Jacob, Henry, Jesse, David, Mary, Gertrude and Frances.  He had six half-brothers and six half-sisters, named Robert, Charles, James, Jacob, William, Harlan, Perditta, Margaret, Emma , Rebecca, Caroline and Rhoda.
