Robert was born on May 10th, 1901.  Robert's father was Albert Ben Stiles and his mother was Mary Caroline Whipple.  His paternal grandparents were Lewis Fisk Stiles and Mrs Martha Settle Tanner.  He had a brother and three sisters, named Cassius, Lottie, Bess and Ruth.  He was the third oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 83 on November 16th, 1984.
