Robert was born on February 28th, 1892.  Robert's father was James Louis Stiles and his mother is Lelia Tarpley.  His paternal grandfather was Rev. Jacob w. Stiles and his paternal grandmother is Mary Eliza Beeler.  He has two sisters named Mary and Ella.  He is the oldest of the three children.  He had three half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Lewis, Jesse, Raymond, Blanche, Alice, Cleo and Oleta.
