Joel was born on February 22nd, 1955.  Joel's father is William Jennings Bryan Stiles and his mother is Alice Ellen Roarx.  His paternal grandfather was Rev. Jacob w. Stiles and his paternal grandmother is Lucinda Davis.  He had three brothers and three sisters, named William, James, Deborah, Mary, Patricia and Brenda.  He was the fifth oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 41 on February 24th, 1996.  His burial was in Lebanon National Cemetery, Lebanon, KY.
