Clifton was born on August 15th, 1875.  Clifton's father was Lewis Fisk Stiles and his mother was Mrs Martha Settle Tanner.  His paternal grandfather was Charles Stiles.  He had a brother and a sister, named Albert and Martha.  He had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Cornelius, William, Gilly, Nannie and Mamie.  He died at the age of 55 on September 25th, 1930.
