Burton was born on May 27th, 1884.  Burton's father was Butler Remey Pottinger and his mother was Mollie Pottinger.  His maternal grandparents were Hardin L.  Pottinger and Rebecca Eltenge Stiles.  He had three brothers and two sisters, named Butler, Curtis, Samuel, Ruby and Rebecca.  He died at the age of 80 on May 19th, 1965.
