Helen was born on September 12th, 1953.  Helen's father is Fleming Ashton and her mother is Bessie Gertrude Thomas.  Her maternal grandparents were Charles Louis Thomas and Beulah  Rodgers.  She has two brothers and a sister, named Charles, James and Barbara.  She is the second oldest of the four children.
